CARPENTERS「Jambalaya」について
「Jambalaya」（CARPENTERS）は、1952年のハンク・ウィリアムズ原曲を“カーペンターズ流の軽快なポップス”へと再構築したカバーで、ルイジアナのケイジャン文化を明るく祝う歌です。原曲の素朴なカントリー感を、カレンの柔らかい声とリチャードのアレンジで“世界中で親しまれるポップソング”へと変貌させました。
原曲は、ケイジャンの伝承曲「Grand Texas」をもとに作られたと言われています。歌詞は、恋人イヴォンヌに会うためにバイユー（湿地帯）へ向かい、仲間と料理と音楽で賑やかに過ごすという、素朴で温かい世界観です。
